In the context of the recent rebirth of Jewish communities in the South of Italy (the orthodox communities of Trani and Sicily, led respectively by Rabbis Bahbout and Di Mauro, and the reform one started in Calabria by American rabbi Barbara Aiello), this book by John Davis about the conversion to Judaism of the whole town of San Nicandro in Southern Italy after the end of World War II is even more interesting.
